Welwyn Garden City Society

The Welwyn Garden City Society

The WGC Society is our town’s civic society. We exist to protect the town’s Garden City ethos, preserve its heritage and oppose threats to the town’s unique heritage. Civic Societies are struggling to survive nationwide. But Welwyn Garden City is a wonderful expression of Ebenezer Howard’s ideal of town-country marriage thanks to Louis de Soissons’ practical vision. As a consequence we feel it is especially important that this internationally renowned town is adequately supported and its fundamental principles championed. Our membership is growing but we serve those members less well than we would like. We need new ideas and new bodies on our Committee. Our existing Committee is too small to oppose the many threats to our town. This is your opportunity to make a difference, and help save one of the world’s most iconic town planning successes. Welwyn Garden City Horticultural Society

Welwyn Garden City Horticultural Society

The Society is a friendly, welcoming club for all gardeners: young; old; expert and beginner. We aim to promote and encourage the skill, knowledge and art of gardening through a wide range of activities, mainly consisting of speaker meetings and garden visits.

We also try to provide help, information and advice to members through our newsletters, website and contact between members.

Meetings are held monthly between September and May. In the spring and summer, visits to gardens and nurseries are arranged for members.

For more details, and how to join, please see details on our website: www.wgchortsoc.org.uk
