Three afternoon tours of Welwyn Garden City took place during June for prospective RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden designers interested in helping to celebrate the Centenary of the town in 2020.

In strikingly variable weather, the designers toured the centre of the town with Angela Eserin, local historian, learning about its history, origins of the Garden City Movement, and the design principles of Louis de Soissons.

A Q&A session and much positive feedback ended the tours, with one designer commenting “the walking tour was most informative and really gave you a ‘feel’ of the town”.  Another “enjoyed seeing the town in its summer glory – truly beautiful.”  With grateful thanks to Humphrey’s Café for helping to host three successful events.
