Show garden would be a fitting legacy

Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation
Letter from Caroline Baynes to Welwyn Hatfield Times

Sir, With television coverage of the RHS Chelsea inspiring me to ‘get gardening’. I invite other like-minded readers to join my small project team, which seeks to create an award winning show garden to celebrate WGC’s centenary in 2020.

I believe that to have a garden at this internationally acclaimed horticultural show would be a fitting tribute to Ebenezer Howard’s legacy.
It would encourage people to visit WGC, while also promoting our ideal location for business and commerce.

I’m delighted that the Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation team is supportive of this project, which forms one of 15 signature events from over 300 ideas submitted so far.

Naturally, a garden of this stature requires significant investment, in terms of time and money, and the commissioning of a top designer.

If you are willing to help us make this happen, and can offer IT, PR or financial skills, please email me via [email protected]

Thank you and happy gardening!
