Roebuck Farm Work with the WGC Centenary Walk Team

Footpath works at Roebuck Farm, Lemsford

On Tuesday 19 February, the wonderful team of Herts County Council Countryside Management Service volunteers tackled a range of works on footpath 61 in Lemsford.

Day 1

Over many years, the track through Roebuck Farm has diverted off the official line of the footpath, which has become so overgrown as to be impassable.

Clearing the trees to open up the path and clear space for a new boardwalk over the swampy section and starting on the boardwalk.

Day 2

Work a new path line above the horse menage / dressage arena, with steps at the end.

A well-earned lunchbreak in the sunshine with tea.

At the Stanborough end of the footpath, the entire route was covered in brambles, which have now been cleared to leave a easy to follow path along the fence line at the bottom of the field with holes dug for new waymark posts to show the new path direction

A return visit is planned later in the spring to finish the boardwalk, install two new gates, and complete the waymark signage.

With thanks to the Herts CC CMS team for working with us and with Roebuck Farm to get this work underway.
