Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation

Organise your own centenary celebration

There is real pride and much affection for the garden city among its residents who recognise the town as a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family. The Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation has been established to help devise and coordinate a programme of events and volunteers to celebrate 100 years of Welwyn Garden City in 2020.

We are bringing together residents and businesses, old and new, past and present, to play a part in making Welwyn Garden City 2020 a success. Our vision is:

To deliver an enjoyable year of events and celebrations for Welwyn Garden City and its residents through 2020.  The celebrations should gain town-wide appreciation and pride in Welwyn Garden City, involving schools, partner organisations and businesses to ensure an ongoing legacy.

The Foundation is organising and funding a programme of Signature Events throughout 2020. We would love you to organise your own Satellite Event to celebrate Welwyn Garden City’s centenary. We’ve created an event toolkit to help you plan and run your event, available to download below.

If you have planned a centenary celebration and would like us to register your event on our website, please download and complete the form below.  In return, we will send you a link so you can download our logo which we hope you will use on your own publicity material.

Protecting our brand

The Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation has been formed to celebrate Ebenezer Howard’s vision and ethos for healthy living.  The celebrations in 2020 are rooted in the community, with a desire to create a legacy for the benefit of garden citizens into its second century.

We are happy for any organisation to use the Welwyn Garden City 100 logo, providing its use is aligned with the values of the Welwyn Garden City Centenary Foundation, and the event is to commemorate Welwyn Garden City’s centenary.   We reserve the right to withdraw this permission at any time.
